Puperita Hearts Hoodie Jacket – A “Widgeon Style” Jacket Pattern

I have longed for a Widgeon Jacket since I knew what they were! I think they’re adorable, soft (no zipper), and simple . . . but . . . for being so simple and basically just a piece of fleece fabric, they are also expensive at 50 plus dollars. Additionally, kids grow fast and I wasn’t interested in purchasing multiple Widgeon Jackets over the next several years. After searching around for “Widgeon Style” jacket patterns, I came across the Puperita Hearts Hoodie Jacket Pattern.

This pattern can be purchased for $6.98 at: https://www.etsy.com/listing/118350511/hearts-hoodie-children-baby-girl-boy

Full disclosure: I have NO affiliation with Puperita whatsoever and gain NOTHING from your purchase of this pattern.

As a comparison, here is the 50+ dollar Widgeon Jacket:

So, here is my review for the Puperita Hearts Hoodie Jacket Pattern –

Pattern Description: For BABIES and CHILDREN from birth to 10 years, it’s the easiest jacket or coat sewing pattern that you can find! It is full of easy and unique details: The hood is not too round, neither too pointed and it has a cuff that continues on the front openings. The jacket is REVERSIBLE. The bottom edge of the front openings is rounded.
Optional in-seam pockets. It has lots of color with the big turned out sleeve cuffs! Just two buttons or three/four snaps!

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 3 for my 3 year old.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes – very easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The finished product looks professional. I love the Widgeon fleece jackets for kids but (as mentioned above) they are so expensive. This is a great alternative and maybe even better because it’s reversible and has pockets.

Fabric Used: Navy blue fleece for the exterior and a car-printed “soft & comfy” fabric for the the interior.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None.

Would you sew it again? Yes – I am thinking about making a lighter one with a soft & comfy exterior and a thinner knit interior.

Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely

Conclusion: Great pattern for an adorable children’s coat. If you buy the digital download for just $6.98 – you get all of the sizes from newborn to 10 years old. That is a great value! Fleece is an inexpensive material and you can easily make this jacket for under 10 dollars. Additionally, you can choose fun materials to personalize it for your little one.
